I'm a big fan of Greg Koch. He's very amusing (if a little over the top) and a terrific guitar player. I got this DVD to learn more about chicken pickin' and hybrid picking. He's goes through some very cool riffs at normal speed and slower, and also plays the longer song with his band. My only complaint is that there is no notation or tab included. Sometimes it takes (at least me) a really long time to figure out the notes he's playing because you have to watch the fingers, remember what he did, and then try it yourself. Definitely for intermediate players.

A feast for the fingers served up by the master of guitar histrionics! The inimitable Greg Koch discusses and demonstrates his twisted but tasty take on the guitar in gory detail. The menu includes full-band demos of select Koch tunes, and lessons on the techniques therein: "Zoinks" - The B-Bender * "Spank It" - Chicken Pickin' Fricassee * "Torn Asunder" - Behind-the-Nut String Rustling * "Death of a Bassman" - Hybrid Picking Wrongdoing * "Tonus Diabolicus" - Fun with Delays and "The Devil's Interval" * "Chief's Blues" - Blues Playing and Giving. Greg Koch's virtuosity, sense of humor, and articulate nature have led to a successful career as a bandleader, studio musician, author, clinician, and recording artist with Steve Vai's Favored Nations label. A multiple award-winning string manipulator, he divides his time between international clinic tours, writing, recording and performing in Greg Koch and the Tone Controls (featured on this DVD).
